Kerry Skemp

About.com Contributing Writer

From Joey Rubin, for About.com

Kerry Skemp is a student, reader, writer, runner, baker, and very poor dancer. Raised near Lake Michigan, she has lived on all three coasts (Texas being the third). Poker and cribbage are her favorite card games, and she can make a mean cheesecake.

Experience:

Ms. Skemp writes for Bostonist.com and Performer Magazine. She has contributed to Austinist.com, The Onion, and ApartmentRatings.com and worked at Apple, Vertive, the University of Texas Press, and Beacon Press.

Education:

Ms. Skemp earned her B.A. in English from Reed College in 2005 and is now working toward an M.A. in Writing & Publishing at Emerson College in Boston.

From Kerry Skemp:

We've all hit musical rock bottom at some point, listening to the same three bands nonstop and feeling uncertain about where to look for something different. I'd like for this site to help educate readers about the history of alternative music, and also turn people on to new bands, new sounds, and new experiences.
