Follow me on:

Artist: Colleen Green
Track: "Time in the World"
From: Sock it to Me LP
Label: Hardly Art
Released: March 19, 2013

When Colleen Green arrived with a fistful of cassettes and a bunch of Bandcamp files, she was entirely bedroom based, but still obviously one of 2011's Best New Bands. After signing to Hardly Art way back when, she set out work on her first official proper album, and, now, finally, it arrives: the awesomely-titled Sock it to Me out in March.

"Time in the World" is the first single, and it's a little less punk-pop than past Green jams. The rudimentary drum-machine beats still persist, but now there's a bunch of synths in the mix; Green's double-tracked vocals not delivered with a sneer, but sweetness. The central sentiment —"We have all the time in the world," sung as repeated refrain"— is just as sweet; Green catching on that feeling of new, young romance, and the endless possibilities that stretch out ahead of it.
