The Knife Return with Long-Awaited Fourth LP, Shaking the Habitual

By January 9, 2013

Follow me on:

It's been a long time since The Knife released their last LP, 2006's Silent Shout. So long, in fact, that the album has grown into a landmark recording, its trail of influence lingering long, as the blogosphere plays host to a long run of acts —Austra, Niki & The Dove, Purity Ring, Chvrches— clearly influenced by the band.

So, when the mysterious Swedish siblings announced they were returning to the studio in 2011, after years in hiatus, performing under solo guises Fever Ray and Oni Ayhun, the anticipation was immediately feverish.

Now, The Knife have confirmed details of their fourth LP. It's called Shaking the Habitual, and it's out on April 8 via their own Rabid Records imprint in Sweden, and via Mute elsewhere. The album features guest vocals from Light Asylum's Shannon Funchess, and comes with the obligatory teaser trailer to stoke those fires of anticipation ever further.

The Knife are infamous for —well, amongst many things they're infamous for— rarely playing live, but already they've cautiously sketched out a pair of shows: May 12 and 13 at Vega in Copenhagen. And, there's promises of more European gigs to come. Welcome back, Knife...
