It's the freakin' Deacon, Teeny, I'm about to have me some fun. Having just issued his weighty treatise on America, Francis Ford Coppola's favorite ecstatic electro showman, Dan Deacon, has turned his remixing hand to a jam from Teen, the new band for ex-Here We Go Magic keyboardist Teeny Lieberson.
The debut Teen LP, In Limbo, is an album much darker, denser, and more experimental than expected. Meaning, the Deacon's dark-and-menacing take on "Better" doesn't alter the mood even as it changes the composition.
Deacon creates a tense drone that resounds throughout, and the pitched-down vocals and ominous church organ keep things plenty shadowy. It's fun, thus, for those happy to lurch and sway in the oppressive darkness. Photo © Shawn Brackbill
