Four long years after Wincing the Night Away, indie-pop bighitters The Shins are back with a new album. Port of Morrow, the band's fourth, will be released in March, via Columbia.
The LP was produced by Greg Kurstin of The Bird and The Bee, and finds frontman James Mercer playing most of the instruments himself, after firing his backing band in 2009. Mercer, of course, kept busy in the interim with Grammy-endorsed side project Broken Bells.
Tour dates to be played by the new Shins lineup —which includes singer-songwriter/studio-nerd Richard Swift and Joe Plummer of Modest Mouse/Mister Heavenly— shall be unveiled soon. Until then, revel in the glories of a tracklist...
