Sleep Over siren Stefanie Franciotti already treated us to something sounding suspiciously like the jam of the year on the glorious "Casual Diamond," a magical slow-motion ballet pirouetting through clouds of sadness and dry ice and wafty synths and echo trailing out to infinity. I can safely say I've spun no single song more in the '11 thus far.
Now, with her debut Sleep Over LP, Forever, slated for a September 27 release on Hippos in Tanks, Franciotti is dishing up a second taste from the record. And "Romantic Streams" is more of the same: again making like some spectral, sinister take on an otherworldly prom's make-out slow-jam, all harpsichord pre-set and ghostly reverb and dream-pop vocals swimming and swarming in opaque layers.
If it sounds cosmic to you, learn this: Forever features a freaked-out, pitch-shifting synth opus called "Flying Saucers Are Real." Indeed.
