Neon Indian —the electronic alter-ego of curly-haired Texan nerd Alan Palomo— has announced the imminent release of a new LP. Era Extraña, the follow-up to 2009's Psychic Chasms, will be released September 13. It's coming out on Palomo's own Static Tongues imprint, with various licensees (Mom + Pop in the US, Transgressive in Europe, Popfrenzy in Australia) handling the releasing.
Palomo wrote much of the record in isolation in Finland, and it found the chillwave don frying synths, warping textures, etc. It follows on from collaborative work with the Flaming Lips and remixes for Au Revoir Simone, Grizzly Bear, and scores of others.
Come September/October, the Neon Indian live-band has a mega North American jaunt in store. Supports for most of the dates comes from electro hardliner Com Truise and totally-awesome Canadian boing-pop duo Purity Ring.
