The Don't Look Back bill that kicks off the 2010 incarnation of All Tomorrow's Parties New York is like a grunge fan's wet dream. As part of an ongoing series where bands play their 'classic' albums in their entirety, in order, next year's ATP NY will deliver a dream night for riff-heads.Iggy and the Stooges are atop the marquee, performing 1973's immortal Raw Power. But there's also stoner legends Sleep playing their bong-rattling classic Sleep's Holy Mountain, Mudhoney knocking out Superfuzz Bigmuff Plus Early Singles, and Aussie proto-grunge boozehounds The Scientists delivering 1983's Blood Red River.
The night will go down on September 3, 2010, which is, yes, 9 months from now. It kicks off the third incarnation of ATP NY, which takes place from September 3-5 at Kutschers Country Club in Monticello, New York.
In other All Tomorrow's Parties news, the line-up for the ATP jamboree curated by Simpsons/Futurama creator Matt Groening has be announced. Taking over Minehead, England's Butlins Holiday Resort from May 7-9, a week before the Pavement-curated ATP weekend, the suitably-odd list of artists reads:
Daniel Johnston, The Raincoats, The Residents, Panda Bear, Anni Rossi, Shonen Knife, Ruins, Boredoms, Broadcast, Deerhunter, Danielson, Anni Rossi, James Blackshaw, Toumani Diabate, and Amadou and Mariam.
