Another day, another piece of Pavement reunion news. Last week, I told you that Pavement had been announced as curators of an ATP UK weekend in May. And, now, the first fruits of their curatorial labors have come to light. The first round of Pavement-picked bands has been announced by All Tomorrow's Parties, and here they are, bullet-point style:
- Faust: German krautrock legends; You Know Faust?
- The Fall: post-punk institution whose frontman, Mark E. Smith, once claimed Pavement were a Fall rip-off
- Enablers: San Franciscan tight-rock types with spoken text by writer Pete Simonelli
- Endless Boogie: aptly-titled boogie-rock aficionados jamming into an eternity of the mind
- Quasi: PDX organ/drums duo whose Janet Weiss, coincidentally enough, played in Stephen Malkmus's Jicks The ATP Pavement edition goes down in coastal Minehead, England, from May 14-16, and tickets for such sold out in mere seconds, it seems. As a warm-up for the festival, Pavement will play a London show, at Brixton Academy on May 11.
Stay tuned for more Pavement news...
