One of modern music's most unfailingly beautiful artists, Swedish songstress El Perro del Mar, is traveling far over sky and sea. Supporting the release of her third record, Love is Not Pop (due out, in the US, October 20 via The Control Group), 32-year-old Gothenburg native Sarah Assbring will be taking El Perro del Mar to audiences on far-flung shores.
Following a pair of shows in Argentina, Assbring will be embarking on her first ever Australian tour, where she'll be playing shows with slickly-produced singer Sarah Blasko and bubblegum-pop sweethearts The Brunettes. Then, come November, El Perro del Mar will be tagging along on a North American tour with fellow Swedes, Peter Bjorn and John (who are, P.S., celebrating the release of their hip-hop remix mixtape, Re-Living Thing).
In my recent interview with El Perro del Mar, Assbring told me all about the heartbreak that inspired Love is Not Pop, her collaboration with Rasmus Hagg of Swedish summer-epic production geniuses Studio. "I really was scared of working with someone else," Assbring confessed, "but I know now that I can work with other people without going insane, or driving other people insane." The Dog Over Seas:
