When not beholden to his most favored format, the 7"/45RPM single, Memphis garage-pop party-dude Jay Reatard occasionally releases a compact-disc. Since his last album-proper, 2006's Blood Visions, Reatard has issued 14 7"s of varying description; many of these being collected on two 2008 compiles, Singles 06-07 and Matador Singles '08.
On August 18, the venerable Matador Records will finally get around to dishing up Reatard's second LP, Watch Me Fall. Once again, it finds him knocking out short, sharp pop-songs that betray a youth spent endlessly spinning Guided by Voices and Chris Knox records.
In keeping with Reatard's vinyl-loving ways, his first run of North American dates in support of Watch Me Fall will find him slinging his guitar at record stores only. All all-ages, all on the West Coast, all at record stores. Yes, that's right, actual bricks-and-mortar stores consisting of actual for-sale physical recording-objects!
