Dirty Projectors Play with Björk, Tour with TVOTR, Totally Own 2009

Dirty Projectors are having a pretty amazing 2009. It kicked off with "Knotty Pine," their collaboration with David Byrne that was bestowed lead-off position of the mammoth, mighty Dark Was the Night compile. Then they announced details of their new album, Bitte Orca, which seems set to be one of the most anticipated indie records of the year. Then they totally slayed SXSW, impressing everyone from The New York Times on down; with the chief slayer being their soon-to-be-released hit-single-in-waiting "Stillness is the Move" (which you can hear a live-at-SXSW version of via Stereogum).

Well, for Dave Longstreth and crew, the ought-nine just keeps on truckin'. On May 3, they'll be playing a Dark Was the Night show at Radio City Music Hall alongside Feist, My Brightest Diamond, Bon Iver, and the National. Then, on May 8, they're going to play a benefit show at a tiny NYC bookstore with Björk, in which Björk will collaborate on a composition specially written for her by Longstreth.

If that weren't enough excitement, come late-May there's this glad fact: Dirty Projectors will head out for a month on the road with TV on the Radio, taking their righteous racket to a largely unsuspecting audience, and furthering their case as band-on-fire in '09.
