Dinosaur Jr Sign to Jagjaguwar, Tour, Give Away 7"

Four years on, and this Dinosaur Jr reformation still seems strange to me. When Lou Barlow was kicked out of Dinosaur Jr in 1989, the incident lead to a half-decade of name-calling and confessional songwriting that etched the breakup into indie-rock lore. Yet, after reforming to tour in 2005, the rock'n'roll greybeards have shown that all that grunge-era soap-opera is so much water under the bridge.

After releasing their 2007 comeback album, Beyond, on Fat Possum, Dinosaur Jr have signed to ever-cool indie imprint Jagjaguwar. "It's not often that the shiny reveries of our younger, more formative years get to coincide with the psyche of our professional lives," the label offered, in a statement. "WE'RE STOKED!"

Following on from such news, Dinosaur Jr have announced a run of dates through often-rural regions of the United States; the 28-date slate steadfastly avoiding major cities. And those who attend the shows will get a bonus gift: a free 7" consisting of "I Don't Wanna Go There," a new cut that'll end up on the as-yet-unannounced Dinosaur Jr Jagjaguwar debut, and a re-spun version of "Tarpit," from their classic You're Living All Over Me LP. Stoked is, indeed, how many will be.
